Senior Software Engineer - AI Driven Platform Rebuild (Fully Remote)
Location: Fully Remote (Australia)
Salary: Circa $150k + Super
The Opportunity
A SaaS healthcare technology company operating in a high usage and highly regulated environment is undertaking a complete rebuild of its legacy platform. This is an opportunity to help design and rebuild critical systems from the ground up while leveraging AI assisted development workflows.
The organisation is building a small team of hands-on engineers who will work closely with the Lead Developer to deliver the next generation of the platform.
The platform includes both a billing system and a HR system which will both be rebuilt as part of this initiative.
This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy greenfield problem solving and shaping architecture and experimenting with modern AI powered development tools.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Rebuilding core production systems from the ground up
- Working closely with the Lead Developer on architecture and technical direction
- Leveraging AI assisted development tools and workflows to accelerate delivery
- Designing and building scalable systems used by a large and active client base
- Contributing to technical decisions and technology selection
- Delivering the rebuild in phases starting with half the platform and completing the remainder shortly after
Tech Environment
The final stack is still being defined and incoming engineers will have input into the technical direction.
Experience with the following is particularly relevant:
- Ruby on Rails
- Elixir
- Modern backend architecture
- AI assisted development workflows
Claude AI will be the primary AI tool used by the team. Engineers who enjoy working with other AI tools are encouraged to experiment and use the tools that best support their workflow.

- Strong backend engineering experience
- Experience working on large systems or platform rebuilds
- Comfort operating in highly regulated or high availability environments
- Interest in AI enabled development
- Engineers who enjoy being hands on and close to the code
This is not a people management role. The focus is on experienced engineers who want to build.
